Mt. Valhalla – Valkyrie and Teuton Ski Trails

Trail Options:   Two sets of trails: Teuton – three loops 3.5 to 6.6 km, more/most difficult, skate/classic; Valkyrie – three loops 1.7 to 10 km, easy to more difficult, classic only.

Trail Description: Ten miles west of Washburn, on County Hwy C, is the Valhalla Recreation Area nestled in the Chequamegon National Forest. It offers two systems of cross-country ski trials developed by the U.S. Forest Service. TEUTON: Loop A – 3.5 km, More difficult, Classical/Skate (several inner loops also, Easy); Loop B – 5.3 km, More difficult, Classical/Skate; Loop C – 6.6 km, Most difficult/Classical/Skate. VALKYRIE (groomed for Classic skiing): Loop A – 2 km, Easy; Loop B- 3.5 km, more difficult; Loop C- 9.9 km, most difficult.

Ownership: Chequamegon National Forest

Management: Washburn Ranger District

Facilities: Parking, Warming Building.

Fees: $5.00 daily/$20.00 annual parking fee

Directions

From the south take USH 63 to USH 2. Turn right (east on USH 2. Follow USH 2 to USH 13. Turn left (north) on USH 13. Follow USH 13 6.7 miles to County Highway C in Washburn. Turn left (north) on C and drive 8.5 miles the trail head. Teuton Trails on west side of County Highway C with main parking area and chalet and warming room. The Valkryie Trails are on the east side of County Highway C. Turn onto FR 439 to park at the new secondary parking area. Across the road from the parking area is the connector trail to access the trails.
